South Bay Democratic Coalition

We are a chartered club, accredited by the Santa Clara County Democratic Party.

We participate in the Democratic Party to cooperate and communicate with other Democratic Associations, Committees and Clubs. We actively volunteer in selected activities in aid of Democratic candidates and goals.

We provide a speaker's forum for the education of members and others on current issues and allow Democratic candidates to present their stands on issues concerning the office they are seeking.

We are excited to announce that the South Bay Democratic Coalition (SBDC) is growing once again under the leadership of Co-Presidents Richard Stoken and Yan Zhao. More exciting news is coming!

SBDC Members Connect in Saratoga at Vibrant Summer Mixer

More than 30 members, community advocates, and local leaders gathered on the outdoor patio of Hong’s Gourmet in Saratoga on Saturday afternoon, August 29, for the South Bay Democratic Coalition (SBDC) Summer Mixer. The event marked the club’s first in-person social gathering following a recent leadership transition, celebrating SBDC’s momentum and rapid membership growth.

Reflecting on Our Roots, Looking to the Future

The afternoon featured remarks from SBDC leadership setting an energized tone for the months ahead:

Honoring Our History: Co-President Richard Stoken opened the program by reflecting on SBDC’s founding, milestones, and longstanding commitment to grassroots civic engagement.
Looking Ahead: Co-President Yan Zhao shared her vision for SBDC’s next chapter, focusing on expanding membership, building broader coalitions, and amplifying the club’s voice within the Santa Clara County Democratic Party.

Strong Support Across the South Bay

The mixer brought together members from communities across Santa Clara County, including Campbell, San Jose, Saratoga, Cupertino, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Santa Clara, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale.

Santa Clara County Democratic Party Chair Bill James joined the gathering to connect with attendees, encouraging everyone to stay energized and actively participate in local civic and political processes.

With an expanding membership and deepening ties to regional leaders, SBDC continues to build an active, collaborative organization for Democrats throughout the Bay Area.
